Lower Secondary Christian Studies: Bible, Belief & Christian Life – 1:1 Personalised Learning is designed for lower secondary learners, approximately 11–14 years old, who would like to develop a deeper understanding of the Bible, explore key Christian beliefs and consider how faith connects with everyday life.
At this stage, learners move beyond simply knowing Bible stories and begin to explore what biblical texts mean, what Christians believe and why, and how Christian teachings can influence choices, values and perspectives.
Lessons may explore the structure and themes of the Bible, key people and events in the Old and New Testaments, the life and teachings of Jesus, the nature and character of God, creation, sin and salvation, prayer, worship, the Church and foundational Christian beliefs.
Learners are also encouraged to consider how Christian faith relates to real-life questions and experiences. Topics may include relationships, forgiveness, justice, compassion, responsibility, identity, caring for others, stewardship and making thoughtful ethical choices.
As learners mature, lessons provide greater opportunity for discussion, questioning and critical thinking. Learners can examine biblical passages, consider different interpretations, explain their own understanding and develop reasoned responses to questions about faith and Christian life.
Lessons are delivered live online, 1:1 with an experienced teacher, allowing teaching to be adapted to the learner's age, existing biblical knowledge, interests and goals.
Where appropriate, lessons can incorporate Bible reading, discussion, historical and cultural context, reflective activities, real-life scenarios and age-appropriate ethical questions. Learners are encouraged to investigate ideas rather than simply memorise information.
The course provides a natural progression from Primary Christian Studies: Bible, Faith & Life, introducing greater depth and independence while laying foundations for more advanced study of Scripture, theology and Christian ethics at ages 14–16 and beyond.
