AS & A Level Chemistry – 1:1 Personalised Learning

Master advanced chemical concepts, strengthen analytical and problem-solving skills and build confidence for AS & A Level Chemistry success.

AS & A Level Chemistry – 1:1 Personalised Learning provides advanced, individual support for learners studying Chemistry at AS or A Level. Lessons are tailored to the learner’s current level, examination specification, strengths and areas for development, helping them master complex chemical concepts, strengthen analytical and problem-solving skills and prepare confidently for assessments and examinations.

Teaching can support ongoing school or college study, address gaps in understanding, explore challenging topics in greater depth or provide structured revision and examination preparation. At this level, learners are encouraged to move beyond memorising reactions and equations and develop a secure understanding of why chemical processes occur and how different areas of chemistry connect.

Depending on the learner’s course and specification, areas of study may include atomic structure, electronic configuration, periodicity, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibria, acids and bases, redox and electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical techniques and quantitative chemistry.

Mathematical and practical skills are integrated throughout the course. Learners can develop confidence with multi-stage calculations, interpreting experimental data, analysing graphs, evaluating practical procedures and applying chemical principles to unfamiliar situations.

What learners can develop

  1. Deeper understanding of advanced chemical concepts
  2. Greater confidence with atomic structure, bonding and periodicity
  3. Stronger understanding of energetics, kinetics and equilibria
  4. Confidence with acids, bases, redox and electrochemistry
  5. Deeper understanding of organic reaction pathways and mechanisms
  6. Stronger quantitative and mathematical skills
  7. Greater confidence with chemical equations and calculations
  8. Improved practical and experimental understanding
  9. Confidence interpreting graphs, spectra and experimental data
  10. Stronger analytical and problem-solving skills
  11. Greater ability to apply knowledge to unfamiliar questions
  12. More effective examination technique and time management
  13. Experience with exam-style questions and past papers

Lessons are delivered live online, 1:1 with an experienced teacher, allowing teaching to focus closely on the learner’s individual needs. Difficult concepts and calculations can be broken down carefully, misconceptions addressed as they arise and additional challenge introduced where appropriate.

Where relevant, lessons can incorporate molecular models, reaction mechanisms, calculations, practical contexts, experimental data, analytical interpretation, exam-style questions and past-paper practice. Learners can also receive targeted support with the mathematical demands of advanced Chemistry and constructing clear, precise responses to examination questions.

As examinations approach, lessons can become increasingly focused on targeted revision, past-paper practice, examination technique and identifying recurring areas for improvement.

Teaching can be adapted to the learner’s specific AS or A Level Chemistry specification, where appropriate, rather than following one fixed programme for every learner.
