AS & A Level Biology – 1:1 Personalised Learning provides advanced, individual support for learners studying Biology at AS or A Level. Lessons are tailored to the learner’s current level, examination specification, strengths and areas for development, helping them deepen biological understanding, strengthen scientific skills and prepare confidently for assessments and examinations.
Teaching can support ongoing school or college study, address gaps in understanding, explore challenging concepts in greater depth or provide structured revision and examination preparation. At this level, learners are encouraged to move beyond recalling biological facts and develop the ability to explain complex processes, analyse evidence, interpret data and apply biological knowledge to unfamiliar situations.
Depending on the learner’s course and specification, areas of study may include cell structure, biological molecules, enzymes, membranes and transport, genetics, molecular biology, respiration, photosynthesis, plant biology, physiology, homeostasis, evolution, biodiversity and ecology.
Practical and investigative understanding is also an important part of the course. Learners can develop confidence with experimental design, variables, data presentation, graph interpretation, analysis, evaluation and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
Lessons are delivered live online, 1:1 with an experienced teacher, allowing teaching to focus closely on the learner’s individual needs. Complex biological processes can be broken down carefully, misconceptions addressed as they arise and additional challenge introduced where appropriate.
Where relevant, lessons can incorporate diagrams, models, practical contexts, experimental data, calculations, scientific articles, exam-style questions and past-paper practice. Learners can also receive targeted support with the analytical and evaluative skills required for higher-level Biology questions.
As examinations approach, lessons can become increasingly focused on targeted revision, identifying patterns in examination questions, applying mark-scheme terminology appropriately and developing effective examination technique.
Teaching can be adapted to the learner’s specific AS or A Level Biology specification, where appropriate, rather than following one fixed programme for every learner.
