AS & A Level English Language – 1:1 Personalised Learning provides advanced, individual support for learners studying English Language at AS or A Level. Lessons are tailored to the learner’s examination specification, current level, strengths and areas for development, helping them explore how language works, develop sophisticated analytical skills and prepare confidently for assessments and examinations.
Teaching can complement school or college study, provide additional support with challenging areas, extend confident learners or offer structured revision and examination preparation. At this level, learners move beyond identifying language features and develop the ability to analyse patterns of language, consider how meaning is constructed and evaluate the relationship between language, context, purpose and audience.
Depending on the learner’s specification, study may involve a range of written, spoken and multimodal texts, including conversations, journalism, advertising, digital communication, speeches and other forms of real-world language. Learners develop strategies for analysing these texts precisely and constructing well-supported interpretations using appropriate linguistic terminology.
Courses may also explore areas such as language change, language and identity, language and power, sociolinguistics, child language acquisition, discourse and other specification-specific topics where required.
Writing is developed alongside analysis. Learners can strengthen their ability to construct clear, coherent and academically rigorous responses, develop arguments, compare texts and communicate complex ideas with precision. Where the specification includes directed, creative or reflective writing, lessons can also provide targeted support in these areas.
