IGCSE English Language – 1:1 Personalised Learning provides focused, individual support for learners preparing for IGCSE or International GCSE English Language. Lessons are tailored to the learner’s current level, examination specification, strengths and areas for development, helping them strengthen reading and writing, develop confident language analysis and prepare effectively for examinations.
Teaching can complement school learning, address particular areas of difficulty, provide additional challenge or offer structured revision and examination preparation. Because lessons are personalised, learners can spend more time developing the skills that will make the greatest difference to their progress.
Learners work with a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, developing their ability to understand information, make inferences, analyse writers’ choices and evaluate how language and structure are used to create meaning and effect. They also learn to select relevant evidence and construct clear, well-supported responses.
Writing support can cover a range of purposes, audiences and forms. Depending on the learner’s specification, this may include descriptive, narrative, persuasive, argumentative, informative and transactional writing. Learners develop their ability to plan effectively, organise ideas, adapt tone and register, select vocabulary carefully and write with increasing accuracy and sophistication.
Lessons are delivered live online, 1:1 with an experienced teacher, allowing written work and examination responses to be reviewed closely. Feedback can focus on specific improvements, from strengthening analysis and developing ideas to improving technical accuracy and managing time effectively.
Where appropriate, lessons can incorporate unseen texts, model responses, targeted writing exercises, timed tasks, exam-style questions and past-paper practice. Learners can also explore how assessment objectives and mark schemes translate into stronger examination responses without reducing English to simply learning a formula.
As examinations approach, teaching can become increasingly focused on targeted revision, timed practice, question interpretation, response planning and examination technique.
Teaching can be adapted to the learner’s specific IGCSE or International GCSE English Language specification, where appropriate, as content, assessment objectives and examination formats vary between awarding bodies.
