Lower Secondary Mathematics – 1:1 Personalised Learning

Strengthen mathematical understanding, develop problem-solving skills and build confidence for the next stage of learning.

Lower Secondary Mathematics – 1:1 Personalised Learning helps learners strengthen their mathematical understanding, develop effective problem-solving strategies and build confidence as they progress towards more advanced secondary mathematics.

Lessons are tailored to the learner’s current level, needs and goals, with teaching adapted to address gaps in understanding, consolidate school learning or provide additional challenge. Learners develop both mathematical fluency and conceptual understanding, helping them understand why mathematical methods work rather than simply memorising procedures.

Key areas may include number and operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry and measurement, data, statistics and probability. Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving are integrated throughout, encouraging learners to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions and explain their thinking clearly.

What learners can develop

  1. Stronger number and calculation skills
  2. Confidence working with fractions, decimals and percentages
  3. Understanding of algebraic expressions, equations and patterns
  4. Greater confidence with ratio, proportion and rates
  5. Knowledge of geometry, measurement and spatial reasoning
  6. Skills in interpreting data, statistics and probability
  7. Stronger mathematical reasoning and problem-solving
  8. Greater accuracy, independence and confidence
  9. Secure foundations for progression to IGCSE or equivalent study

Lessons are delivered live online, 1:1 with an experienced teacher, allowing concepts to be explained carefully and giving learners plenty of opportunity for guided practice, questioning, feedback and review.

There is no fixed starting point. Teaching can be adapted to the learner’s curriculum and educational context, making the course suitable for learners who need additional support, want to consolidate their current mathematics programme or would benefit from greater challenge.

As confidence and understanding develop, learning priorities can be adjusted to support continued progress and preparation for the next stage of mathematics.
