Christian Theology: Faith, Philosophy & Ethics – 1:1 Personalised Learning is designed for learners aged approximately 16–19 who want to explore Christian faith at a more advanced level while engaging thoughtfully with theology, philosophy, ethics and some of life’s biggest questions.
Building on earlier Christian Studies, this course encourages learners to move beyond knowing what Christians believe and begin examining why those beliefs are held, how they can be understood and defended, and how they relate to philosophical and ethical questions in the modern world.
Learners may explore key areas of Christian theology including the nature and attributes of God, the Trinity, creation, humanity, sin, revelation, the person and work of Christ, salvation, the Holy Spirit, the Church, resurrection and Christian hope. Biblical texts can be studied alongside theological ideas, helping learners understand how Christian doctrine develops from and interacts with Scripture.
Philosophy introduces opportunities to investigate questions such as whether God exists, the relationship between faith and reason, the problem of evil and suffering, religious experience, miracles, truth, free will, human identity and the meaning and purpose of life.
Christian ethics allows learners to examine how Christian beliefs may shape responses to contemporary moral questions. Depending on the learner's interests and goals, topics may include human dignity, relationships, justice and poverty, war and peace, medical ethics, technology and artificial intelligence, environmental responsibility, equality, forgiveness and the value of human life.
Importantly, the course encourages thoughtful enquiry rather than simple memorisation. Learners are supported in asking challenging questions, examining arguments, considering different Christian traditions and perspectives, evaluating alternative viewpoints and developing well-reasoned conclusions of their own.

Lessons are delivered live online, 1:1 with an experienced teacher, allowing the programme to be personalised around the learner's existing knowledge, interests, academic goals and questions they would particularly like to explore.
Sessions may incorporate close biblical study, theological texts and ideas, philosophical arguments, ethical case studies, structured debate, comparison of viewpoints, essay planning and extended written responses.
The course is suitable for learners studying Christian theology for academic enrichment, personal intellectual development or a deeper understanding of Christian faith. It can also provide valuable preparation for further study in areas such as theology, philosophy, ethics, religious studies and related humanities subjects.
